My peers and coworkers,

I have created this petition on behalf of all of us. Whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, it is the choice of the individual regarding the medical treatments that they subject themselves to. Why else would we have the choice to sign 'do not resuscitate' forms in the hospital?

The COVID 19 Mandate implemented by the Government of Alberta on September 30, 2021 is being enforced in violation of our Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms.

Under section 7 of the Charter, this Mandate violates the protection for individuals' life, liberty and security of the person. Canadian law has long recognized individuals' rights to personal autonomy and bodily integrity, which is being wholly disregarded by our employer and our Government.

Through this Mandate the unvaccinated are being coerced by threats of an unpaid leave of absence if they do not comply by December 1, 2021. Yes, there is an alternative to this, but $80 per week for possible false negative/positive rapid test results doesn't hold very much confidence for single income families that require that money to survive.

As Public Service Employees we have been working consistently throughout the Pandemic to provide outstanding guidance in the face of ever changing policies and processes. It has been hard work and we have shown up everyday regardless of our vaccination status. We have worked side by side, we have worn the masks, we have sanitized, we have isolated when required and we have always been a team. Please sign this petition to say that you disagree with the Government and do not let this Mandate divide us.
