40th Avenue and QEII Interchange

This petition is from City of Airdrie residents & supporters, who STRONGLY URGE the Provincial Government of Alberta to approve funding for the 40th Avenue and QEII interchange.

The acute traffic entering and exiting the QEII at Yankee Valley and Veterans Boulevard has become dangerous. Aside from frustrating gridlock on city streets, the line up to exit the QEII in these areas during rush hour extends well past the off ramps. This hazardously forces drivers to be at a complete stop on the highway, amongst drivers doing speeds in excess of 110 kilometers per hour.

Additionally, the increased congestion that will inevitably be created by the impending construction of the railway underpass on Yankee Valley is of grave concern for commuters. Although it will be helpful upon completion, lane reductions and closures on this already overcrowded boulevard will be unbearable for residents with no other options.

The 40th Avenue and QEII interchange will greatly reduce the risks and frustrations associated with this congestion, making it's funding and construction an ABSOLUTE priority for the Airdrie community. Being a regionally significant hub, with a rapidly growing population, these concerns need to be addressed by The Government of Alberta and Alberta Transportation immediately.

Sincerely,
Airdrie Citizens
