Holding a full and valid driving licence opens a world of opportunities to young people, but the cost of getting a full licence in Ireland begins at roughly €500.

This initiative would see learning to drive as being part of secondary school curriculum, with Government provided funding to cover the cost of theory test, 12 lessons and driving test for secondary school pupils, aged 16+, who maintain a minimum attendance and academic performance standard while they take part in this initiative.

The aim of this initiative is to see young people leaving secondary school holding a full driving licence, ready and able to explore greater employment and education opportunities.
