Palm oil is found in a majority of products in day to day life, but only a handful of these products will have had their palm oil sourced sustainably.

Big companies such as Cadbury's, who own other, smaller companies such as Nestle, sell thousands of products every day that contain unsustainable palm oil.

The devastation caused in rainforests around the world in order to farm this palm oil is horrific - deforestation is causing loss of habitats for exotic animals such as the orangutan and the sumatran tiger; burning of the forest to clear the land contributes to climate change; soil erosion as the area is cleared leaves the vast area of land infertile and unusable.

If we demand companies to state on product labels how their palm oil is sourced, we can better avoid the greed-driven corporates and instead support the companies that are sourcing their palm oil in the correct way. And hopefully, this will encourage the culprits to switch to a sustainable sourcing method themselves.

I don't want to live in a world devoid of nature and biodiversity, and know that I've been partly responsible for the outcome. Do you?
