Let's Stop Repeating History And Help Our Musi River
We request you to install treatment plants and sludge treatments on behalf of the residents who live in Hyderabad. The responsibility falls on each individual to take care of our home. Our responsibility is to eliminate the threats that are upon our Musi River.
The Musi River, also known as the Moosa River, is a tributary of the Krishna River, which flows through Telangana, India. It is located on the Deccan Plateau. With a length of 240 kilometers, it began in the Ananthagiri Hills near Vikarabad.
For a long time, our beloved river has been a victim of pollution. The negative impact of industrial waste and sewage water was not only on the river but has greatly affected the people's health conditions who live in Hyderabad.
The Moosa river faces issues like industrial waste. Industrial waste is where untreated water is thrown into the river containing chemicals such as harmful sulfate from materials like detergents and oils, which pollutes the water even more than comes from industries. A solution to this issue would be creating a proper management system where we install treatment plants, where it takes out all solids and removes organic compounds such as nitrogen and phosphorus, and disinfecting the water. This can be done by implementing the stringent rules by the Pollution Board. After the government installs the treatment plant they can enforce a law or rule for the industries where a certain amount of chemicals can be thrown in and those who don't follow the rule will be fined for their actions.
Another issue the Musi River faces is sewage water. Sewage water is wastewater generated by residents of a community. Wastewater is the water that is expelled from homes after being used for various reasons such as dishwashing, laundry, and toilet flushing. The used water is transported from the houses through the pipes installed during the plumbing process. The solution for this problem can be a sludge treatment that can be installed so that way the water can be purified and go back into the river while being separated from the solids.
It is important to take action on this issue because as the river is being used as open sewage, it has created a damp area that mosquitoes are now using as a breeding ground causing people health issues. Studies have shown that there was an increase in dengue cases due to this. This is an opportunity for the community to fix the lack of planning. Introducing these 2 management systems will not only be beneficial to the river, but it will also be beneficial to us.
So we request the government to take the certain actions required to allow our Musi River to thrive again.
