Hi all

My dad is 76 years old. He has dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Currently, he’s in a nursing home, they are great and have kept him happy during this awful pandemic up until recently. 

It may be his awful disease or the fact he can no longer live but I know that all he wants is to be “alive”. 

I fully appreciate the need for the elderly to shield from COVID-19 and I’m hearing so much about our children suffering mental health problems as a result but who is going to speak up for our elderly. My dad has been In isolation since the beginning of March, in a room with a tv, no visits, no family, no outings, just phone calls. He doesn’t understand why and is beginning to get annoyed with the people who love him the most as he feels we’ve abandoned him. 

If my dad had a choice he would rather be “FREE” And not live what could be a short time sat in a room with a tv. It’s time the government stopped robbing our elderly of what little life they may have left xx
