Canberra Parents Need the Choice to Keep our Unvaccinated (under 12yo) Children Home Safe
Parents with children under 12 need the option to stay home with their children. Yes the world needs to go back to normal, although there needs to be a policy for parents to be able to make the choice to stay home with their unvaccinated children. Whilst remaining employed or stood down until it is safe to send our children to school.
Not all of us can work from home, not all of us feel comfortable sending our kids to school unvaccinated. Especially single parents or families with Immune Compromised people in the home.
We are being forced back to work while playing “Russian Roulette” with our children’s lives.
There is no mandatory vaccination policy in Canberra, there is no choice for parents to keep their kids at home. The Government will also stop the extra support payments to families once Canberra reopens on 15 October 2021.
There is clear evidence that the vaccine is not 100% effective even at double dose, so why are we reopening and being forced to work before the territory even makes it to double dose.
This is deeply concerning for parents. We need to have the option to stay home, keep our kids safe and be supported by the Government, Dept of Education and our workplace.
