Educate Year 8 About Pornography Before It’s Too Late!
In light of the tragic details surrounding the Sarah Everard case and the now known behavioural issues attributed to Wayne Couzens, namely an addiction to Pornography and drug abuse, we must re-assess how and what we are teaching our Key Stage 3 children in schools and at home. I propose that Secondary School age children in Year 8 are taught about Pornography from an entirely revised and fresh perspective. Because of a such vast access to Pornography via Smartphones and the Web, the implications for our young Children’s’ developing learnt behaviour cannot and must not be underestimated. I know- I caught my 12 year old watching Porn. I call it the Playground Effect. And we are naive to think that a huge number of our children haven’t been exposed. And we are naive not to think that for so many Secondary School age children, Porn is viewed as ‘normal’. Pornography and it’s incredibly widespread effect, is resulting in a generation of school age children misunderstanding what is appropriate and also only in fully understanding and consenting sexual situations. The secondary school age male and female must be fully educated with a curriculum devised by experts, who will not be wrap the subject in cotton wool. If we are to avoid future generations of Wayne Couzens types and more innocent female victims, we must educate our children. Families must be educated too. Awareness must be raised. And naivety must be overcome. A long overdue revolution in Children’s Sex Education is due and it is due now. Start this change in Sex Education in Year 8 before it’s too late!
