Ambulances spend a lot of their time responding to mental health calls / crisis whixh they are not able to effectively manage and they are taking time away from those who have urgent medical needs. 

A mental health first response team would be available after mainstream services close from 5pm in the evening to 9am the next morning. This would enable those in mental health crisis to receive the support they need. 

Many of those who suffer find the evenings / night times the most problematic and although various helplines are available, someone at risk of suicide for example would not have access to a mental health team until the next morning. These services are often not immediate
