Why this petition matters

Started by Laura Austin

Many mums feel like they have been left behind and forgotten about because they have a child over 1.

It seems like the government is saying that only mums with babies born in 2020 need support or are at risk from their mental health.

It is hard being at home by yourself with an over 1 year old, unable to form a bubble simply because you live with a partner. The problem is when that partner works you are just as alone as a single parent household during your childs waking hours.

The child is missing out on groups and social interaction and so are the mums, motherhood is very isolating and we rely on social interactions to stay mentally well.

Arguably it is much more challenging to be on your own with a 1 year old plus than an under one.

Many of us went into the first lockdown with our child/children being very young and we were still at risk from post natal depression or already struggling with it but have been left behind whilst all the support and recognition is concentrating on 2020 ' new mums'
