Gemma Fowler started this petition to Government and

Due to the impact of the pandemic, the cohort of 2022 has had the most disturbed learning. This year of students did not sit GCSE' and have experienced many national lockdowns where students could not receive adequate teaching and support. Many students could not afford the right equipment and supplies or did not have a quiet space to study that school provides us with and therefore will potentially underachieve in the final a-level examinations due to home and economic circumstances.

Secondly, this year of students have never experienced formal exams before due to the fact we did not sit our A- levels, this will further disadvantage our ability to achieve our full potential as we have not experienced the pressure before that all other previous students have, therefore I believe it is unfair to make students sit a-level exams.

Several groups of people will be affected if exams go ahead in the summer of 2022, therefore you must sign this petition so we are heard. We must gather signatures from teachers, students and parents so we can make a change. To get a true reflection of a students grade, an alternative method of assessment should be used which will reflect a true representation of the pupils’ grade.

I hope that after reading my reasoning for why A-Level exams should be cancelled, you will sign the petition to avoid uncertainty and anxiety around the topic of exams.
