Why this petition matters

Started by Dawn Mason

At the moment there is NO official register in UK for Assistance dogs for disabled people. Many travel companies, restaurant owners, Hotel Owners do not allow ASSISTANCE dogs in unless they are registered with an appropriate registration board.

We want all Assistance/Service/ Emotional Support Dogs for disabled people to have the same legislation as Guide Dogs for the Blind.

The majority of Assistance dogs are owner trained as their needs are particular so each Dog's training is subjective to that person.

Blind people are not asked what is wrong with them to need a guide dogbut Disabled people are forever being asked , illegally, why they need an Assistance Dog. Especially in Restauarants & Hotels.

Even when a dog has a pet passport they are not allowed onto aeroplanes with their owner, many need them whilst travelling, but are placed in a cold unpressurised hold on the plane making the purchase of a sky kennel necessary also.

I call upon the Government of United Kingdom to finally pass legislation to make Disabled people's Assistance Dogs covered by LAW. It is about time Disabled people are heard & notice taken of our needs instead of making life very uncomfortable & causing anxiety by being treated as second class citizens.
