My daughter (fully vaccinated) and only grandchild live in a red listed country. I’ve not seen them for eighteen months. My health is compromised so I couldn’t cope with the hotel quarantine on re-entry but would not qualify for any exemption. My grandson is eight and has sensory issues so ten nights in a quarantine hotel is not advisable for him. We would be prepared to pay the cost of the hotel quarantine to be fitted with a tag and self isolate (we have a separate annexe prepared in hope this would be a possibility) rather than not see them until the world is vaccinated (because they are living in a travel hub country). It is difficult to see people here being allowed to choose not to wear masks and to be allowed to hug anyone when we can’t find a way to see our family without thinking the only way is to lie about reasons to travel.
my mother is 89, has 75% heart failure, damaged kidney COPD and has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer and referred for dementia. She would dearly love to see her granddaughter and great grandson again, while she can still remember them.
I struggle with anxiety and our daughter is trying to negotiate a divorce so far away from family support. We’re desperate to be able to support her.
