Currently, The biggest threat that Hyderabad faces in the short and long term is sustainability of our lifestyle. This petition is aimed at speeding up our transition to fully electric vehicles that are much more sustainable than the present Internal combustion engine cars.

Let's start off with the problem that electric cars aim to solve. Internal Combustion Vehicles use explosive energy by combusting fuels to drive an axle that transfers the energy to the wheels. The by-products of these reactions release environmentally toxic gasses and produce noise. The mining of these fuels is also extremely environmentally damaging. Not to mention the local conflict in some of these regions. 

These gasses are known as greenhouse gasses and deplete the ozone layer which protects us from the sun's radiation. Along with this they trap heat inside the Earth's atmosphere preventing excess heat to escape from the planet's atmosphere. This changes weather patterns worldwide. Making natural disasters more commonplace and severe. This effect is called Climate Change. 

How can I stop Climate Change? There are hundreds of ways a single citizen could do their fair part in fighting Climate Change. However this petition as you probably noticed focuses on transitioning our vehicles from Internal Combustion Engines to Electric motors and batteries.  It's not only the common citizen who should transition to Electric Vehicles but all government vehicles as well. Especially public transportation which has fixed schedules and distances making it perfect for a testbed to test new electric technologies.

The sooner we transition to Electric Vehicles, the lesser we damage our environment. And the faster our transition to a sustainable, greener Hyderabad.
