Why this petition matters
There is a big issue that could rapidly impact the world and that issue is climate change. Planting trees is one thing that we can do to stop it. Trees are a filter for air pollution and trees also help reduce ozone levels in outback areas. Trees also suck in carbon and filter it and turn into oxygen helping carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses from the air. This would help with global warming and climate change because trees absorb carbon dioxide as they grow and they store that carbon in their wood which helps slow down global warming.2 Trees also re purpose that carbon dioxide into oxygen by doing photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process of which plants and some other organisms use the sunlight to synthesise nutrients from carbon dioxide and water.
There are about 9389 schools in the whole of Australia meaning in one year we would plant 938900 trees, and in 22 years we would be able to double the tree population.1 Planting trees will also benefit students by giving them a sense of pride and purpose and make them feel that they are doing their part to save the planet
Some of the environmental benefits of planting trees is that they absorb in carbon dioxide which gets rid of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. If we do this then it will help slow down global warming and help stop climate change. This will also relieve headaches , dizziness, restlessness, a tingling or pins in needles feeling, difficulty breathing, sweating, tiredness, increased heart rate, elevated blood pressure, coma, asphyxia and conclusions 3. There are still many other benefits that trees carry into our environment. Trees reduce the amount of storm water runoff, which reduces erosion and pollution in our waterways and may reduce the effects of flooding. If more trees are planted it will provide food and protection for many mammals and birds around Australia.Trees also provide homes for over 2.1 million species of animals around the world.
The greatest tree to plant would be Eucalyptus amanuensis, also known as the river red gum. The reason we should plant them is because the river red gum is a native tree to Australia, it's smallest size is 20 m and it's largest size is 45 m. It's size matters in the fight against climate change because of photosynthesis, It’s large surface area of leaves which generates more photosynthesis.
