The Ganges is a river of Asia which flows through India and Bangladesh. The 2,704 km river originates from the Gangotri Glacier of western Himalayas and flows south and east through the Gangetic Plain of India and Bangladesh, eventually into the Bay of Bengal.The Ganges is a lifeline to millions who live along its course. It is a sacred river and is worshiped as the goddess Ganga in Hinduism.

We, as the people of this country have the power to make decisions effecting the entire country(humans and animals). The river also has critically endangered species such as the South Asian river dolphin.We should consider the number of lives we are endangering by polluting this religious river which is the largest water source in India. It is a known fact that this river is polluted the most in the name of religion. The levels of bacteria from human waste in the river near Varanasi are more than a hundred times the Indian government's official limit. Let us take a step forward to save the Ganges by not polluting the river, especially in the name of religion.
