According to the National Statistics Office (NSO), mental health illnesses are the third most common forms of morbidity for Filipinos.

In the Philippines, one in five people are struggling from a mental health problem. Between 17% to 20% of Filipino adults experience psychiatric disorders, while 10 to 15 percent of Filipino children, aged 5 to 15, suffer from mental health problems.

The statistics are alarming. But what's more worrisome is the fact that a national mental health law has yet to be enacted despite the urges of various advocates.

One of the things we can do is for people to have a safe space, not just at home, but in school, as well. Having the type of subject that just doesn't talk about how mental health works but considering talking to the ones who have it, as well, holds the possibility of reducing the detrimental effect of it.

One of four people suffers from mental health. You can be the one that helps.
