Becoming carbon neutral seems so far away, yet, for the uk it is entirely possible with surprisingly little change. Whilst the government are wasting money on projects like HS2, the world is diving deeper and deeper to a climate emergency. Our preposition is, that if the UK government increased income tax on average by as little as £2 a month, for a year, £1.6 billion could be raised. Scientific research shows that if 1.6 billion trees were planted in the UK, we could be carbon neutral. The conservative government promised, that by 2050, the UK would be carbon neutral. By then it will be too late. Although planting 1.5 billion trees wouldn’t completely eradicate the carbon going from the Uk to the atmosphere, it would massively help. This is such a small amount of money to spend but it would have a massive impact. If this happened, the UK could truly say it was playing its part in the race against the point of no return. The current group of politicians won’t be affected by the consequences of there actions, we will. Our generation are being made to take a grandstand view of our world leaders deciding our futures on the planet.
