Hi my name is Janessa I am 16 years old, I am the daughter of a man who has spent his whole life providing for me and my family. He helped raise my 3 older brothers from my moms side and he has a biological son who is also my older brother and I know they couldn’t agree with me more when I tell you how amazing this man is. He is truly loved by our entire family. Not one day has gone by that I’ve felt unloved or unsafe in the company of his presence. My father made a mistake 31 years ago that became fatal and he did his time and was released from parol early because he was doing so well for himself. Now 31 years later we began to temporarily foster my little cousin until her parents were situated and after she grew attached to us dcf took her away and  placed her in a foster home where she didn’t know anyone after my fathers background check came back. Not only is this 3 year old little girl going through so many things she doesn’t understand but my father is being re punished for something that was a tragic mistake when he’s spending  the rest of his life repenting. He is now a proud business owner and a man who gives great advice on just about anything. He hasn’t gotten into any trouble ever since and I think it is unfair that because of what happened 31 years ago he cannot help his niece OR EVEN VISIT HER or help any child in the system that needs it. All we want is for her to be with her family as well as anybody else in the same situation. What I’m trying to accomplish is that if you have a criminal background that has nothing to do with child abuse, sexual abuse and domestic abuse and you haven’t committed a crime within the last 10 years and you completely changed your life around and genuinely cares for the well being of the child you should be able to foster or adopt a a child.  Please help me fight for criminal justice by signing and spreading the word!
