Ashley Burton started this petition to Governor Andrew M. Cuomo

On Wednesday 11/25/2020 the salon I rent space out of was mandated to close due to being in an "orange zone" with rising Covid-19 cases. Along with many other Salons, Barbershops and gyms in the surrounding area, we shut our doors with no certainty of when we will be able to return. This is right in the middle of our busiest Holiday season where we make a good portion of our money and are booked weeks and months out. In our profession we do not make money if we don't work so this is a huge loss, especially right before the holidays.

There has been no connection made to covid cases coming from Salons, Barbershops or gyms. Over 70% of cases are coming from individuals gathering, going out to bars and restaurants and not wearing masks. As licensed Stylists we are required to complete 1000 hours of education complete with sanitation and health standards. We are also mandated to wear masks and face shields, our clients must wear masks, we take temperatures, have hand sanitizing stations, we sanitize between each client and are only allowed 1 client at a time. We have had 0 cases coming from our salon and this is the case with majority of all other salons affected by this zoned shut down.

I am asking Governor Andrew Cuomo to let us open back up. This is not fair to our small businesses that are still hurting from the first shut down. We have done everything we are supposed to yet people are allowed to still go to bars, eat inside restaurants and that is where the problems are, not from us! We are being unfairly targeted when there is NO proof of us being the problem or contributing to the rising cases. Please help us open our doors back up so we can work and provide for our families!
