A lot of us are in a situation where we are worrying about rental payments in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our landlords who have a mortgage on the properties we live in are able to apply for a 3 month payment holiday from their providers but this doesn’t seem to be filtering through to us, the occupants.

There are a lot of us that are going to be hit hard financially because of this pandemic and we need the government to do more than postpone evictions. At the end of this crisis we will be in rental arrears or still facing eviction, many of us while looking for new jobs in a market that will be saturated with unemployed people.

We need the government to offer as much protection to renters as they do to landlords and to suspend rental payments if our landlords are granted payment holidays, not just evict us at a later date.
