PROBLEM: Deforestation and for- est degradation results in loss of habitat for all species, a decrease in freshwater quality, an increase in soil erosion, land degradation and higher emissions of car- bon into the atmosphere. In short, not taking action on forests impacts both the health of the planet and our communities.

SOLUTION: Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.

Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cut down on what you throw away. Follow the three "R's" to conserve natural resources and landfill space.

Plant a tree. Trees provide food and oxygen. They help save energy, clean the air, and help combat climate change.
Don't send chemicals into our waterways. Choose non-toxic chemicals in the home and office.

Shop wisely. Buy less plastic and bring a reusable shopping bag.
Use long-lasting light bulbs. Energy efficient light bulbs reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Also flip the light switch off when you leave the room!

Bike more. Drive less.

GOAL: Sustaining life on land means preserving and restoring terrestrial biodiversity and ecosystems such as forests, wetlands, grasslands, drylands and mountains by halting deforestation, fragmentation and overgrazing and reversing desertification and land degradation.
