The federal government and the CRTC have recently announced $100's of millions of dollars to bring quality internet access to rural remote communities across Canada. Previously such funds have been dispersed to large telco's who inefficiently, or inappropriately used the funds, failing to deliver a reasonable benefit to the communities intended. Big Wifi Inc, with the support of several industry partners, believe public funds should not be used as capital to increase profits and drain funds from small financially challenged communities with high subscription fees.

Big Wifi Inc. has developed a proposal to deliver contract free, high quality, low latency, unlimited data internet, television, home phone and cellular services to all under-served rural, and First Nations communities. Unlike large corporate telco companies, 100% of retail profits will be payable to local municipalities and Band Offices. A guaranteed low cost (sub $20) minimum service level for every home will provide telephone, television, and limited internet access for educational, banking, utilities, government access and other basic necessities as required. Faster retail plans up to 50 megabits per second download, and 10 megabits per second upload will be offered from $60 per month and up.

Cellular services with LTE equipment are traditionally very expensive to setup and require large populations of subscribers to support. The high investment costs leave many communities without any cellular service. This proposal includes the industries first non-arms-length MVNO (low cost cellular re-seller agreement) to shelter the sponsoring cellular operator from the high financial risk of servicing small areas. Under this plan all Canadians can have equal, fairly priced, access to mainstream LTE cellular service.

By keeping the funds localized we can offer employment and learning opportunities in each developing community. We will be helping train the next generation of high tech trades capable of managing a community wireless and cellular network. Hands on and remote training can be delivered from experienced technicians abroad, once the first high speed video conferencing connections are made.

If you believe public funds should be awarded to proposals from smaller localized teams, directly benefiting the local communities instead of large telco bottom lines, please show your support by sharing this on your social media. Your vote will help this proposal move forward.   Thank you for your support.
