Gov. Quinn: Stop Drug Overdoses in Illinois!

The Emergency Services Access Act will provide limited immunity for those who possess small amounts of drugs if they call 911 or seek medical help in an overdose situation.
This bill should pass the Illinois legislature and Gov. Quinn's should sign it into law.
New Mexico, New York and Washington also have state-wide laws that provide protection from drug possession charges when a person calls 911 during an overdose emergency. Other states are considering similar legislation.
Calling for help shouldn't be a crime. With this law in place, Illinois can help remove a major barrier to calling for help in medical emergencies involving drugs or underage drinking.
Please ask Gov. Quinn to sign this act into law.
