Timothy McDonald started this petition to Gov. Mike DeWine and

I have been fighting still after 13 years of being released from prison. Granted I am better off now than I was but reform still needs to be more aggressive and Proactive not reactive. There are some things that a person can do but even the expedited path can take up to one year to complete and there is no guarantee that the person will receive a clemency. pardon or expungement. And this can put a person that already is in a bad place seem even more hopeless. I have a plan after thinking on this since 2009.  Implementation is in the hands of the government but I feel if I can get the petition drafted and get as many signatures as possible then, (In theory) they should listen. and take it serious .I want a plan to implement a Tier System to eliminate the possible "profiling" of rehabilitated individuals. This is for the offender who may have made that drastic mistake, but with the help of our justice system, has done the right thing and changed their lives for the good of everyone. I want to petition the government to start a tier system ( kind of like what sex offenders have) to ensure more fair and equal rights go to those who have taken the proper steps to achieve a healthier more productive life! Everyone deserves a second chance, so is it right that our first time felons (non violent) felons have to do their time in prison then come home and face the same challenges than a career criminal has to? NO!!!!! I was that man, I am a one time felon and I have been denied great jobs because I messed up once. I have struggled to ensure a good life for my family. I have worked the best jobs that was offered and I came along way. Lets make a change so our Small American Businesses as well as Large Corporations will not have to be afraid to hire first time felons. Give these companies' a reason to want to hire first time felons. I am willing to go to Congress, or where ever I need to in order to have our voices heard and to have them listen to this plan. But most importantly, To let them know that it's time for the process to change. And I believe with your help signing my petition, We all can make this a reality. This is not at all for sexual based crimes. It is only the adoption of the classification that sex based crimes use. This is for ALL non violent felonies as of now.
