Gov. McCrory and N.C. General Assembly: Fully support the N.C. Rural Economic Development Center

The Rural Center, founded in 1986, serves the people of North Carolina's 85 rural counties. The Center promotes leadership development, strategic planning and creative problem solving at the community level, helping equip rural citizens to preserve the places they love while participating in the 21st century economy.
Grants from the Rural Center help with water and sewer projects, job creation and building reuse. These grants often are the catalyst to leverage with other funds so that dreams can become reality in so many small towns.
Gov. McCrory's budget calls for cutting the Rural Center's budget by nearly 2/3, or $10 million. These are funds that directly benefit communities and towns that don't bask in the limelight of the Research Triangle or Charlotte. These are towns that don't have much of a voice in the General Assembly.
IF YOU LIVE IN NORTH CAROLINA, please join me in speaking up for the rural people of our state by voicing your support for the Rural Center.
