Don't release personal data to Trumped-up Voter Integrity Commission

This petition had 1,215 supporters

Trump’s new Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity has requested vast amounts of voter data from all fifty states including names, addresses, social security numbers, voting history, and other private information.

The request has raised significant concerns among voting rights and privacy advocates across the country. According to reporting by The Hill, “at least 24 states, with both Republican and Democrat-led governments so far refused to provide all or some of the voter information requested by Trump’s Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity.”

In Maryland, at least 49 state legislators signed-on to a letter initiated by Montgomery County Delegates Eric Luedtke and Kirill Reznik asking Maryland officials to protect voter data. Del. Luedtke said, “I join my colleagues in calling on Governor Larry Hogan and state officials to reject the request from a federal commission to be sent voter data on every Marylander. Sharing this data would clearly violate Maryland law.”

On Friday, The Baltimore Sun reported that Common Cause Maryland and the ACLU of Maryland wrote a letter to Maryland officials urging them to refuse the request. Damon Effingham, Common Cause Maryland’s legal and policy director, said the request raises “significant concerns among voting rights and privacy advocates.” David Rocah, a senior attorney with the ACLU of Maryland, said Friday “the request is improper under Maryland law on multiple levels.”

Sign below to tell Governor Larry Hogan, and the Maryland State Board of Elections to stand up and speak out to protect our voter data.
