2nd Chance for youth 2nd Strikers

Currently 2nd strike offenders serving long prison terms for violent offenses that were committed prior to age 23 are excluded for the youth parole board hearings. Many of these offenders committed violent crimes prior to their brains being fully developed to understand consequences and many only committted crimes with the potential of violence bot actual violent outcome. This is not a get out of jail free card. It simply expands the currently allowed youth offender parole hearings to include those that were sentenced to 2nd strike with a violent crime. Governor Jerry Brown has the resources to support any initiative he chooses. Our initiative is currently in circulation but in order to obtain the required physical signatures to qualify this initiative for the 2018 ballot, we will need a very large group of supporters. The quickest way to obtain that caliber of support is to obtain legislative backing and Gov Brown has the largest by far. Help him notice this initiative and request his support by backing this petition. You can also find us on the web and Facebook as 2ndchanceforyouth
