The state of Iowa, Governor Branstad and the Iowa Legislature have an opportunity to help reduce the cancer burden in Iowa by providing thousands of currently uninsured people with lifesaving health coverage through Medicaid.

Federal funds are available to increase access to health coverage to individuals and families up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level ($32,499 for a family of four) and if Iowa makes the right choice, families across the state will have the security of knowing they have access to proven cancer screenings and treatments they otherwise could not afford. This will give around 100,000 hardworking, low-income Iowans access to lifesaving cancer screenings and treatments, and save Iowa taxpayers millions in health care costs.

A recent American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network poll showed that a strong majority of Iowa voters, 57% said they would support Iowa accepting the federal dollars to cover more Iowans through Medicaid – while only 27% said the state should turn down the funds.

Letter to
Gov. Terry Branstad IA
Please support accepting the federal funds already set aside for increasing access to health coverage through Medicaid in Iowa.

This will give around 100,000 hardworking, low-income Iowans access to lifesaving cancer screenings and treatments, and help to improve their quality of life. Additionally, these funds will save Iowa taxpayers millions in health care costs. A recent American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network poll showed that a strong majority of Iowa voters, 57 percent said they would support Iowa accepting the federal dollars to cover more Iowans through Medicaid while only 27 percent said the state should turn down the funds.

I strongly encourage you to support accepting the federal funds for Medicaid which will provide thousands of Iowa families with the lifesaving access to health care coverage they need and deserve.
