Notably, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) is the youth wing that is in charge with the responsibility of coordinating youth activities in all states of the Federation. But our findings noted 35 states having a strong formation of NYCN including the national body which coordinates its activities from Abuja.

To own dismay, Zamfara has no formal or functional NYCN Chapter, but there is a group of people parading themselves as the EXCOS who were neither elected nor inaugurated by the Government or Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

In this petition, we ask that the government should set up a new formation of NYCN in the state, mandate the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to set up a committee that will organize elections, and further make the youth council operational.
