The Boulevard and neighbouring Estates are regularly impacted by extremely offensive odours that appear to be coming from the neighbouring sewerage farm run by Goulburn Valley (GV) Water. The odours restrict time outside of our homes and force us to close windows and doors. Despite these efforts the odours permeate into our homes.

The Boulevard Neighbourhood Plan promotes our Estate as “creating a safe environment for families to grow in, with an emphasis on the use of our beautiful walking paths and open spaces to increase the health and well-being of all residents and visitors” Greater Shepparton 2016, https://greatershepparton.com.au/community/neighbourhoods/ community-plans/boulevard-and-golf-estates-neighbourhood-plan, accessed 4th September 2021). Clearly, the impacts of these recurring offensive odours means “our Estate” is not enjoying the benefits of this claim.

Numerous complaints have been raised with GV Water yet this issue remains and severely impacts the quality of life , comfort, enjoyment, etc. of residents. Some residents have incurred financial expenses trying to alleviate or minimise the impact of this issue e.g. paying for private contractors to investigate the problem, purchasing costly household items, increased usage of clothes dryers, etc.

As a collective group of residents we are seeking action from GV Water to rectify this offensive issue and allow us the quality of life this and surrounding neighbourhoods deserve.
