Gosport and Fareham Friends of the Earth started this petition to Gosport Borough Council

The United Nation’s Panel on Climate Change has recently said that we have 12 years to make the necessary changes to limit a rise in global temperatures to 1.5c.

Failure to act will threaten the well-being of people in Gosport and all over the world. Inevitable consequences will include extreme and abrupt changes to weather patterns, rising sea levels and loss of habitable land, crop failures, extinction of plant, insect and animal species and economic disruption and crisis.

"Right now, we are facing a man-made disaster of global scale. Our greatest threat in thousands of years. Climate change. If we don't take action, the collapse of our civilisations and the extinction of much of the natural world is on the horizon. The world's people have spoken. Their message is clear. Time is running out."
(Sir David Attenborough, 3 December 2018)
