I was schooled at home by my Mother. I believe it is a viable and preferred option for some families and individuals based on need and circumstance.

Parce que le choix d'instruire ses enfants différemment n'est pas un choix répréhensible.

What are you thinking? Not all children can be forced into a one size fits all education. They will not thrive. Homeschooling offers much greater flexibility and more one on one teaching which is infinitely more effective with children with special needs.

Having worked with DHS (USA's Tusla) for over 15 years as a foster parent, having home schooled my five children (the adult ones have ALL gone on to successful university and/or careers), and having love of freedom, families and education the Rights of the Families and their choice regarding education and Rights of Religion must be honored all over the world. I have home schooled in three different states and met many home schooling families who are amazing! The whole community of one of sharing and enriching and growing together as parents help parents, in SAFE environs, learn about algebra, geography, physics, dance, chemistry, latin, cooking, economics, soccer, literature, etc. Even my adopted daughter who suffered from fetal alcohol syndrome has a chance! DHS in charge of her life would have destroyed her. I have seen it destroy many kids I have had in my home as they "armchair quarterback" raising them, without the love of a parent. Public school would have destroyed her. Give parents the right to do what's best for the child/ren THEY love! DHS/Tusla does not LOVE their child/ren! Only a parent can. Leave families alone. They will do a most wonderful job and allow Ireland to shine even brighter as the level of crime goes down (home school kids are taught greater levels of respect for others), as love of learning goes up (when education is home based, NOTHING is overlooked as a lesson), families will be strengthened and the whole culture will be even more delightful than it already is. Do not be afraid to enrich your country with home schooling!

Home education, as the name implies, is a matter of education and the fact that it is being dealt with as a matter of child safety is frankly insulting!

Read the constitution: "42: The State acknowledges that the primary and natural educator of the child is the Family and guarantees to respect the inalienable right and duty of parents to provide, according to their means, for the religious and moral, intellectual, physical and social education of their children.

42.2: Parents shall be free to provide this education in their homes or in private schools or in schools recognised or established by the State.

This is an unnecessary intrusion and government overreach attempting to destroy family sovereignty.
