This is a hugely important tool for YouTube as a global platform. People being able to enjoy creators who speak other languages without creators having to rely on outside subbing services. Very disappointed in this decision

Seems like a good idea to crowd source captions

Captions are such an important accessibility feature to so many people and without these community-based captions, creators will either have to lock out their deaf audiences or spend a lot of time or money making sure their videos are accesssible. This is not about the profits you can make with this feature, but about accessibility.

I listen to music in Japanese every day, so to lose the subtitled translations of all the songs to come in the future would be nothing short of a travesty

The fan subtitles for people like Uncle Roger really helps my parents who doesn't speak English understand the jokes and make them feel they're part of the community. Please don't remove it.

This is a fantastic feature, practically essential for many, and useful for others. It is quite robust, and I see no good reason to remove it.
