Calling all movie buffs in this new digital age:

Do you remember a time when you could organize your DVDs on shelves using the categorical guidelines of your choosing? Action movies on this shelf. Rom-coms on this one. Tear-jerkers here. Guilty pleasures there.

Nowadays most people don't go out and buy physical copies of their favorite movies. Instead, they purchase them through online platforms, among the most accessible being Google Play. While Google Play's movie selection is endless, buying movies through this platform results in impersonally categorized libraries. Your current options are to either alphabetize your purchases or to list them in the order in which you bought them.

BORING!

I propose that the showrunners behind Google Play should add a feature that allows users to create their own movie shelves. This would not only set Google Play apart from other movie streaming services, but it would also likely incentivize movie buffs to press 'buy' over 'rent' more often because, hey, our paychecks might not be big but we sure do want our movie collections to be!
