Those who are familiar with the Google suite have probably encountered this issue before: You're going in to pick a font, and… oh. Huh. There's just… not enough fonts—or they don't fit your needs, or they don't go well together, or they don't have a good italics version, or a number of other reasons that just make the fonts available not functional for your needs.

'Okay, there's an Add Fonts button, I'll bet that's got loads more fonts to pick from!' you think, hopeful, but your hope is for naught. Because despite all your scrolling, you only find a handful of fonts that you really like, and most are either far too over-the-top or—in all ways that matter—identical to or otherwise look exactly alike to most of the other fonts. Having fifty of the same, cookie-cutter, Serif, Times New Roman-clone font is not variety.

The Google suite is free, yes. How hard would it really be to add an option for importing your own fonts (as many word processors do), or just add in a larger variety of fonts? There are many fonts out there—some free, some not. They work beautifully, but the overwhelming majority are incompatible with Google products, which is a shame.

A lot rides on font selection. Matching two fonts can be the breaking point for the document stylistically, and finding the right font is the most important thing when it comes to setting the mood for the document. But that's just impossible at the moment.
