Allan Xiao started this petition to Google and

I get hung up on or miss important information on calls to doctor offices or other services because Live Captions must read an announcement and so probably gets mistaken as a robocall.

And while it's reading it, it doesn't transcribe...

So imagine if I needed to call 911...

Other relay services don't do this. I switched back to using one whenever this happens.

But I don't see why then Google needs the announcement. And in a way, shows how socially deaf and insensitive Google has become, even though it advertises to be friendly and helpful...

In fact, live captions keeps breaking after updates. Even called them but they said the only way is to reset all app settings to fix...

THAT'S NOT TRUE... and again shows how unhelpful it actually is, especially to those with disabilities.

I'd also like to note that you can find background "call recorders" in it's app store, which obviously don't announce they are in use... Recording without an announcement technically is illegal in most countries.

So how can Google sell those if it requires this announcement in Live Captions, which it owns?

And also allows apps like Zoom to disable it's use. In a way this is discrimination by letting others decide what we can and cannot "hear".
