What's happening in Sudan

Right now in Sudan, a civil war between a nation of people fighting for freedom and a tyrannical government is occurring. Hundreds of peaceful, innocent Sudanese protesters have been brutalized and massacred by the Transitional Military Council (aka the TMC as well as the government under former President al-Bashir). The TMC replaced former President Omar-al Bashir after the people demanded his resignation due to a series of issues that were related to deteriorating living conditions and an economic crisis. After the TMC took over the government, protesters continued sit-in and other forms of civil disobedience, citing leaders in the military as part of the problem which they were fighting to resolve. The people called for the military to hand over governmental power to civilians, instead, the Sudanese military continued to attack protests. Infringement upon human rights, massacres of hundreds of people, and countless reports of sexual assaults against women are all crimes that have been committed at the hands of the Sudanese government over the past few months.

Now, across Sudan, mobile internet access has been shut down completely which is the way a majority of the Sudanese population attain internet access.

What is occurring right now is a crime against humanity. One way we are hoping to aid the Sudanese people is by asking Google to send a Loon Balloon from their “Project Loon”. This can provide a much needed, and potentially life-saving internet access to the people of Sudan.

Previously, Google has sent Loon Balloons to Puerto Rico after the devastation of Hurricane Maria as well as to Kenya and has been able to provide internet access to millions of people unjustly cut off from the world. We want and need Google to do the same for the people in Sudan. Help us by signing and sharing this petition. Help make a change!
