Molly Brownsdon started this petition to Good Hope Country Day School

The dress code at GHCDS is unrealistic and sexist. The priority of our school should be the students feeling comfortable, not covering up. And quite frankly, we aren't comfortable when we are being told what to wear and how much we can and can't show. We live in the Caribbean and it's too hot to wear jeans every day. Ms. Grey may not understand this because she has the privilege of sitting in an air conditioned office all day. Students don't have this same luxury. But beyond physical comfort, its important to be confident in your clothing and express your style in whatever way you choose. It's my body, I should be able to dress it, not the administration. Many male students don't face the same repercussions as us females. The boys wear board shorts almost daily and never get dress coded, but a girl shows too much cleavage once and is forced to change. We can't help it. We have bodies, we have breasts, and we refuse to let anyone else tell us what to do with them. I have been fighting the dress code for years now and have been promised that my voice will be heard, but it never is. And I, as well as many other students and teachers are fed up with it. I propose a change in dress code where the only limitations on what students are allowed to wear are: no references to drugs/alcohol and no nudity (showing genitals, nipples etc). I hope that this school will finally listen if I have the support of you guys. Please sign this petition, your efforts really do help.
