Good Friday off

Good Friday off
Why this petition matters
Lipscomb University is a private Christian school with 68% of students and 95-99% faculty who identify as Christians of a variety of denominations. Lipscomb University weekly observes Sunday as a Christian holiday with no scheduled classes. Attendance at weekly Christian chapel and breakouts is mandatory and the university has been listed among “Best Christian Colleges and Universities in the South.”
Therefore, it is inconsistent with the Christian values nurtured at this school that Good Friday is not observed as a day to suspend classes.
We, the undersigned, respectfully petition Pres. McQueen to suspend all classes on Good Friday in observance of the significance of that day to the majority Christian population at the school. Sign this petition if you believe president Candice McQueen should give the students the day off on Good Friday, to recognize the somber day in which Jesus gave up His life for all of us.
