Student parking passes at Goochland High School cost $75.00 for a year or $37.50 for a semester. Many students cannot afford this unnecessary fee so we came up with a solution that will benefit both the students and the faculty; Reducing the cost of the parking pass based on the individual students' GPA would provide an incentive for students to perform better in class which would then benefit the school in the form of bonuses and reputation.
The majority of students at Goochland High School live in underfunded homes where money is a common issue among the county's population. Reducing the cost of the parking pass could mean that a student wouldn't have to go hungry for a week.
A potential issue that we have confronted is paying for the parking lot supervisor's salary. The money that the school gets from the student parking pass fees is used to pay the salary of the worker who monitors the parking lot to keep it a safe place. Since there are funds being cut from the money that contributes to his salary in our plan, the school would have to find a new way to pay for his salary. We came up with the idea that with higher GPA and testing scores, the school would receive bonuses which could be used to pay the parking lot monitor.
