STOP Gold Hill from turning our Sports park into a White Water Park

STOP Gold Hill from turning our Sports park into a White Water Park
THIS PETITION IS INTENDED FOR RESIDENTS OF GOLD HILL AND IMMEDIATE SUROUNDING AREAS
The Gold Hill City Council is once again trying to give the Gold Hill Sports Park to Steve Kiesling for his White Water Park.
The Council believes it has the authority to give Kiesling permission to apply for public funding by using the property of Gold Hill residents as security. We do not believe that the Charter gives the Council this authority. But even more, we do not believe that the plans to create an Olympic venue is good for our river, our community or the finances of Gold Hill City Hall.
The Council created a Parks Committee and appointed Steve Kiesling as the Chairman of that Committee. This is a gross conflict of interest and we are petitioning the Council that Kiesling be removed from that Committee and he can put forth his case as a citizen and not as head of the Parks Committee.
We also are petitioning the Council to appoint members to the Parks Committee that are representative of other opinions than those who support the proposed project.
We also are petitioning the full disclosure or all records of all interactions and applications with lenders and regulatory agencies that have been submitted by the Gold Hill White Water Park, whether they have been submitted in the name of the City of Gold Hill or whether they were submitted only in the name of Gold Hill White Water Park.
Many of the people who are signing this petition have family histories that are tied to the river, tied to the salmon fishery, grew up watching the salmon spawn at the base of the rocks that are currently part of a plan to invite thousands of people to use that part of the river for their own use without regard to the actual impact on the river. We have never seen a single enviormental impact on that this proposal.
After years of watching the conservationist successfully run out any mining that they found harmful to the fisheries, we are now told that blasting rocks out of the bottom of the river to create a water playground, is not harmful to the fisheries. That stretch of the river has been used by locals forever for events like the White Water Rodeo and even recently for the US Championship rafting.
Residents of Gold Hill, please sign our petition!
