Rumour has it that there will be a Permanent Closure to the public to the Sand Bypass System Jetty, also known as Southport Jetty at The Spit.

This iconic jetty will be closed to families and those that use this jetty, in particular, to fish.

This impacts many that have used this jetty to fish for many years. These include those with mental health issues, where this is the only place that provides them relaxation away from the real world. Many of these people have made friends here when they have no one else.

There are no other open ocean jetties until you get to Hervey Bay!
