Fireworks create a massive amount of pollution both in the air and with the residue falling on land and also in our waterways and ocean. In a time when we are all aware of the pollution in our oceans and the impact on marine life, and ultimately us, we should transition from polluting fireworks to light displays as an alternative to see in the new year.  Some of the impacts of fireworks are:  airborn pollution (chemicals to produce various colours); they are made with plastics; litter on beaches that washes into the ocean and harms marine life; terror inflicted on our pets.  The GCCC should be championing a cleaner environment on land and sea, not condoning such pollution.
