We are petitioning that Gofundme.com suspend https://www.gofundme.com/f/djag2c campaign. This is because it has come to our attention that the money raised is intended to sponsor the Amarah Fano group, an informal armed group engaged in terrorism, violence and killings of innoncent civilians accorss Ethiopia. We are certain the money will be used to support criminal activities. 

We found several inconsistencies in the campaign. Firstly, the fundraiser asserted “...collaborating with other YouTubers to raise money for families of the victims who suffered during the Ethiopian Timket celebration on January 19, 2022”. However, identities of the people whose pictures were displayed in the text of the funding appeal proves otherwise. For example, Emanuel Wondimu, the young man on the bottom right hand with a pistol gun hanging on his neck is an Oromo who was publicly executed by government forces at a public square in Dembidolo town of Wellaga Oromia. He was accused of being an Oromo activist. His parents were forced to watch their son’s execution in public. Emanuel’s  crime was his Oromo identity.

Oromo are the very nation that the fundraiser has preached hostilities against through his social media platforms. Furthermore, another person is conducting a fundraising in the name of Emanuel Wondimu who is connected with the family:

As for the other people whose pictures were used in this campaign, the circumstances of their death contradicts the assertion made by the fundraiser. 

Secondly, the fact that the pictures of these individuals are misused and misrepresented coupled with deliberate omissions of details of the individuals, magnifies the devious attempts made by the fundraiser to deceive the public. Fact checks conducted on the matte also concluded that the use of those pictures was misleading as indicated by http://multifactcheck.org/mfc-investigates-organizers-of-gofundme-who-collected-close-to-usd-82000-on-behalf-of-victims-whose-identity-is-not-yet-established/ . We have evidence establishing that none of the families of the victims pictured in the campaign were consulted. Neither have they given consents and their bank details to the fundraiser.This shows that the funding gained from this scheme is bound to be used for illegal purposes. We believe the funding will be given to the Fano Armed group. It will be used to terrorise and discplace indiginous oromo, Tigaru, Gumuz among other populations across Ethiopia. It will increase violence and crimes against humanity. 

Thus, we would like to kindly request that Gofundme.com investigate this matter further and take immediate action to suspend the funding. This is imperative to stop further destabilizing of the region. We urge you to take immediate action!
