The new legislation is absolute nonsense, showing how out of touch with reality this current Spanish government is.

As co-owner and chief editor of www.insidespanishfootball.com, this legislature has impeded our activity in a number of important aspects, due to our content being widely distributed via social networks and news aggregation services, such as Google News and NewsNow.

The direct initial impact is that our content no longer being listed via these news aggregation outlets, which means a loss of around 30,000 visitors to our site each day, plus the subsequent loss we will suffer in advertising revenue. The monetary value of this loss we estimate at €90,000 per year.

In addition, we have also now been forced to shelve plans for further investment and employment creation within Spain. Our plans for May this year were to open new offices in Málaga and Granada, creating permanent jobs for around 25 local employees. Those plans are now indefinitely on hold.

On behalf of myself and my organisation, I appeal for common sense to prevail, that shows an educated understanding of the technologies at our disposal and how they aid our efforts, along with a swift reversal and rethink of this idiotic legislature, which has caused such harm to our industry.
