Flynn Remedios started this petition to Goa Police Traffic Department

The Traffic Sentinel Scheme launched by the Goa Police is a welcome move but must be applicable only on National Highways, Main Roads and State Highways.

It must not be applicable and must be scrapped on interior roads in small towns and villages where residents use two-wheelers to commute for short distances or on arterial roads and crowded market areas, where due to heavy traffic, two-wheelers cannot travel at speed limits in excess of 20-30 kms an hour.

The Traffic Sentinel Scheme is causing resentment in villages and small towns as residents are clicking photographs of their own neighbours and family members with the sole intention of accumulating 100 points to win the cash reward of Rs 1000. While partly solving one problem - that of traffic offences, it is creating law and order problems in the locality as fights are taking place between neighbours, due to suspicion about the shooting angle of the  photograph, with neighbours alleging that the photograph was clicked from the verandah of the neighbour.
