"Gnowangerup" - a Facebook group with a difference!

The undersigned have been participating in a collective local history project. This involves sharing and saving the invaluable history of the Gnowangerup District.

It is 30 years since any significant recording of this amount of local history was recorded or published.

We need a website that is designed to collect, share and save our collection for future generations. No other group within the Shire currently performs this role.

The group also allows for friendships to be rekindled, cultural and other understandings and learning to take place and mental health to be uplifted.

There is a growing base; currently at 1,400 - people who have at some time resided or had family who currently reside in the Shire, of these 1,000 are active members on a daily basis.

We connect and share with all other towns in the Shire, along with other neighbouring towns in the South West, as well as Albany. Evidence is in many posts which have received over 2,000 likes, reposts and/or comments (some over 3,000.

We are supported by many Noongar families, photographers, trail walkers, flora and fauna experts, military historians, family researchers and artists to name a few.
