Christian Coffey started this petition to Gloucester County Engineering Office

The intersection of Ellis Mill Rd (322) and Clems Run in Mullica Hill, NJ (South Harrison Twp), has shown to be a dangerous intersection. There have been 3 significant accidents since the start of 2021 and multiple accidents each year. The last two accidents occurred only 8 days apart one of which was a near fatal crash. Cars frequently speed through this intersection which is both curved and has low visibility. Residents living near the intersection are frequently fearful of turning into their driveways and taking the risk of being rear-ended by drivers who assume the resident is turning at the intersection. Unfortunately, the intersection is currently a 2 way stop.

A flashing light and regrading was completed in 2017 which has reduced the accidents in the evening, and helped the intersection overall. However, this has not been sufficient to reduce the number of accidents.

The adjacent intersection at Richwood and Ellis Mill was upgraded to a 4 way stop after a significant number of accidents at that intersection. Data shows the upgrade was highly effective at reducing the number of accidents.

The signers of this petition would like the Gloucester County Engineers office to conduct the required traffic study and upgrade the Ellis Mill/Clems Run intersection. This is a public safety issue for drivers and for residents, including a home that sits within 30 feet of the intersection.
