THE LTL COMMUNITY RECEIVED NO NOTIFICATION OF THIS HIGHLY IMPACTFUL CHANGE UNTIL DEMO HAD BEGUN. This building is a residential building that is home to 160 plus families (including children and women living alone). The residents/owners in this building acknowledge the need for mental health services (of which there are many in our neighborhood) but find it irresponsible on the part of the County to locate offices/drop-in clinic services within a residential community. It is not safe as the County often has clients who are felons, sex-offenders and those who suffer from substance abuse. The offices within which these services are proposed share unsecured hallways and common space with the residential community that should pose legal, ethical and safety concerns for the County. We live in an industrial neighborhood and there are many options available in non-residential buildings within which to locate such a facility, minimize risk and continue to provide quality care. We respectfully ask that these services be offered elsewhere and in a non-residential setting. Our appreciation goes out to those who work as our community partner to heal, co-exist and provide for a changing community!
